In a bid to bolster their attacking lineup, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli have reportedly set their sights on Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus as a prime target for the striker position.

The Saudi Pro League, known for its ambitious transfer moves in recent windows, aims to continue this trend by attracting more star players to elevate the standard of football in the country.

According to a report from Dean James, the 27-year-old Brazilian international has caught the attention of Al-Ahli. Jesus, who has spent the majority of his career in the Premier League, initially joined Manchester City in 2017 after progressing through the ranks at Palmeiras.

Under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, he enjoyed considerable success, although he eventually found himself lower in the pecking order, prompting a move to Arsenal in the summer of 2022 in search of regular first-team action.

Since joining the Gunners, Jesus has been a consistent performer for Mikel Arteta’s side, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists in 36 appearances last season. However, with three years remaining on his contract, speculation about his future has intensified, as Arsenal seek a more traditional number nine to spearhead their attack.

While Jesus has proven his quality, he does not fit the mold of an out-and-out striker that Arteta desires. This has led to reports suggesting that the Brazilian could be on the move before the current transfer window closes.

Al-Ahli’s interest in Jesus is part of their strategy to sign high-profile players and enhance their squad. The club has already made notable acquisitions, including former Premier League stars such as Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Despite finishing third in the Saudi Pro League last season, Al-Ahli are determined to close the gap with Al Nassr and champions Al Hilal, and they see Jesus as a key addition to achieve this goal.
